The good news is we made it to London, a bit tired, but none the worse for wear. We had 3 flights and it took close to 17 hours from our house to our London hotel.
Our first leg from Detroit to Toronto went well, We did get a big surprise in Toronto. Our Economy Comfort tickets granted us access to the Iceland Air premium lounge! We headed there and enjoyed a nice, free beef teriyaki supper with free beverages to boot! After eating we relaxed there until time for our 5+ hour flight to Reykjavik. During this flight Mary got this cool picture of the supermoon from the air. Neither of us slept well on that flight in spite of the large seats but upon arrival is where the trip got interesting.
We had a scheduled 35 minutes between arrival and the start of boarding for the last leg to London. The plane arrived about 10 minutes late and there was no gate available so we had to be bussed to the terminal. Once there we had to clear security again and the line was HUGE. Fortunately we were at the head of our planeload of people. We finally cleared that step and headed to our gate after boarding for our plane had begun. It was a bit stressful, but we made it OK.
Arrival in London was 1/2 hour late, but all we had to do was head to our hotel and we enjoyed the new Queen's terminal with typical lines for Customs. We had a great cabbie and virtually no traffic to get to our hotel.
