Seeing Los Angeles

Today was our day to sightsee in LA.  We headed north to Beverly Hills and drove down Rodeo Drive on our way to Hollywood.  What an amazing (and rich) area!  Once at Hollywood Blvd we looked for the John Denver star. It is in a very nice location near the north end of the stars, which is in a bit more elegant area and away from a lot of the souvenir stores.
On our way back we passed the Chinese Theater with all the cement hand and foot prints of the stars. We spent quite a bit of time here and took many pictures of our favorites like Tom Hanks, Jimmy Stewart, and Kevin Costner along with the Star Wars cast and Star Trek.  George Burns also had his cigar outlined in cement!

Next stop was the Grammy museum with the special John Denver exhibit. We were both VERY impressed with this exhibit and I encourage anyone who can, to go and see it. It is far better than the exhibit at Red Rocks. I tried to take a panorama of it but only this one side worked out. An excellent video narrated by Tom Crum was playing continuously.  In the display there were outfits John wore, his cowboy boots and cowboy hat, guitars he played, his school  yearbook, even his wire-rim granny glasses.

Our last stop of the day was the California Science center to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour, which flew 25 missions.  After it flew the last shuttle mission, it was flown to LA.  They had a time lapsed video of moving it through the city streets to the Science Center.  The exhibit also contained the last remaining shuttle external tank. Now Mary and I have seen all three of the surviving space shuttles that went into space.
We made it to our hotel in San Pedro late in the afternoon in time to watch the Super Bowl.  It was quite a game with a record setting rally by the Patriots.

Tomorrow is one more day of sightseeing, then we head out on our cruise.
