Arriving in London

Well, we made it. Flights went well - even arrived a bit early after sitting on the tarmac for 20 minutes waiting to cross a runway.
And then there was Customs...
We walked a "country mile" to get to the Customs area and saw that the serpentine ropes were filled and people were lined up down the hallway. So we went to the end of that line, only to be directed down another hallway - followed by yet another hallway! So we finally found the end of the line. Fortunately, the line moved well, but it still took about 90 minutes to get processed.
We caught a taxi (ours is the colorful one, second in line) and by 10:30 we were at our hotel - 3 hours after getting off the plane.
So now we are at our hotel, The Regency, which has small rooms (as do nearly all London hotels) but very serviceable.
After a disappointing lunch at an area pub (which did not have traditional pub fare!), we came back to our hotel and found Gail and Kathy had just checked in so we made plans for dinner and headed to our room for a refreshing nap.
