Heading to Denali

Our journey today began quite early since we had to get to the train station by 7:00AM to catch our train to Denali.  As we headed north on our train, we left the rain behind us and enjoyed a sunny day all the way to Denali where it became overcast. We had a very enjoyable train ride, especially when we discovered the people in the row behind us are also part of the group we'll be cruising with; what a surprise and coincidence! Lunch on the train was excellent and we both took many MANY scenery pictures.  Mary took this picture of Mt McKinley (Denali) sticking out above the clouds. That was the best view of the mountain we had today.

After arriving at our hotel we had to hustle to catch a shuttle to the  Denali bus depot.  Once there we bought tickets for the last bus ride of the day into the park.  On the way we saw 4 moose. A mom and her calf are pictured here. That was great to see, and made the hustling worthwhile.

After two long days in a row, tomorrow we can relax a bit since we have until 10:30 to get ready to catch the train back to Anchorage. I'm sure we will both enjoy a much quieter day.
