Sailing out of Los Angeles

Today went very well.  Mary caught this picture of the sunrise out of our hotel window.  We could see our ship from the hotel so I took a walk and took this picture of our ship, docked just ahead of the USS Iowa.  It was neat to see the two lined up like that!

We had plenty of time to get ready in the morning, the shuttle driver to the ship was early, and embarkation was super smooth, with no measurable waiting!  We had all our travel documents preloaded so we sailed through the expedited check in and were told we could board the ship!  The whole process, from leaving the hotel to getting into our room, took just 30 minutes.  After that we had lunch, then walked around the ship, watched the safety video, and checked in at our muster location.  The atrium was beautiful as always.

The sail-away was interesting.  We had to wait for a large container ship to dock across from us before the ship could move.  Then it had to turn around, and talk about tight parking -- the stern of our ship came within 20' of that ship as we swung around!  We then sailed past the USS Iowa as we headed out to sea.

No food pictures tonight, but we both enjoyed Pina Colada chilled soup, our entrees, and dessert.

Tomorrow is a sea day so lots of on board ship activities.
